This Oakridge Oregon Gallery, is a personal reflection of my hometown and an expression of the connection I feel for this beautiful mountain community in Oregon's West Cascades. To be specific, I live in the mountain hamlet of Westfir, which despite its small size can be easily found on any map of Oregon simply by locating the confluence of the North Fork and Middle Fork Willamette Rivers. The greater Oakridge area is comprised of Oakridge proper, Westfir and High Prairie; a community which holds the enviable distinction of being the only town in Oregon to be entirely surrounded by National Forest, and more specifically the Willamette National Forest. I am also including in this gallery those landscapes, flora, fauna, industry, and outdoor pursuits which lie within the boundaries of the Middle Fork Willamette Ranger District. This broader view of the Oakridge 'metro area' and its surrounding mountain forest lands offers a better context of where I live, and of perhaps how many people within the community might also identify themselves. Some of the major geographic landmarks within this region include: Salt Creek, Salmon Creek, Hills Creek, North Fork Willamette River, Middle Fork Willamette River, Diamond Peak, Salt Creek Falls, Waldo Lake, Hills Creek and Lookout Point Reservoirs, Diamond Drive, Aufderheide Scenic Drive; and of course all those oversize green hills which surround Oakridge and collectively fall under the jurisdiction of the Willamette National Forest's Middle Fork Ranger District. I warmly invite you to explore the beauty of where I live and enjoy!
